Melbourne, FL (September 23, 2013) – After much consideration, Wuesthoff Health System has made the decision to consolidate our Obstetrics services. Several factors influenced this difficult decision including community needs and the current population trends.
The Wuesthoff Medical Center - Melbourne Obstetrics unit will consolidate with Wuesthoff Medical Center – Rockledge effective September 15th. The last day of service for the Melbourne Obstetrics unit is September 14th; please note that there are no scheduled procedures on the unit after September 11th. The Wuesthoff Medical Center – Melbourne team will work closely with any expecting mothers to ensure their delivery will not be disrupted; our Rockledge facility, with its newly renovated NICU and patient rooms, is poised to transition all patients.
As we move forward, we continue to focus on expanding service lines consistent with the changing needs of the community. Wuesthoff Medical Center - Melbourne is currently reviewing options that include adding additional Operating Room space for our growing surgical business. We continue to invest in the hospital and in our community in order to provide the highest quality services possible.
Providing the residents of Brevard County outstanding service and quality care remains our number one priority.
